THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has upgraded the weather alert to a Rainfall Warning for the City of Thunder Bay. The Weather Service has also issued the Rainfall Warning for the areas of Superior West.
Freezing Rain Warnings are in effect for the Nipigon, Rossport, Marathon and Schrieber regions as well.
The roads and highways are likely to be impacted for travel. If that trip is absolutely needed, please drive to arrive alive. If the trip is not vital, please consider delaying your travel.

The weather service says that Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.
Rain will develop this morning and persist into this evening. The heaviest rain is expected later this morning into this afternoon.
Rainfall amounts of 25 to 35 mm are possible by the time the rain ends later this evening. Locally higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
Rainfall warning in effect for:
- City of Thunder Bay
- Cloud Bay – Dorion
- Kakabeka Falls – Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
