THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have continued their battle against the scourge of drugs in our city.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 1,000 block of Dawson Road just before 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 31 following a report of a male being threatened.
When officers arrived they located the male victim and discovered he had been assaulted.
Through the course of their investigation, officers identified possible suspects connected to the alleged assault and reported threats. Two of those suspects were later found and arrested by officers at the hotel.
The subsequent investigation led officers to locate a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, nearly $8,000 CAD, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized totals $21,000.
A total of four suspects were arrested as a result of this incident.
Shane BENJAMIN, 25, of Mississauga, Ont., is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Probation Order Non-Compliance, and Failing to Comply with Condition Recognizance x2.
Anthony Nicholas KAPLANIS, 38, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Assault, Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Obstruct Peace Officer, Failing to Comply with Condition Recognizance, and Probation Order Non-Compliance.
Mosiah Moses PETER, 39, of Mississauga, Ont., is charged with Assault, Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
Celine Marie BELLEAU, 37, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Failing to Comply with Condition Undertaking.
All four accused appeared in court Monday and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
