THUNDER BAY – UPDATED – The Lakehead Board of Education advises that Hammarskjold High School is closed again today due to a threat. The school was closed for a day earlier this week as well. There have been five such threats made that have led to the school closing for a day this semester.
“Due to an anonymous threat received by Thunder Bay Police, Hammarskjold HS will be closed for today, Fri Mar 29. All efforts will be made to reopen on Mon Apr 1. Students on buses will be returned home. Students without keys will be dropped off at Superior CVI”.
The Thunder Bay Police Service was made aware of the threat involving Hammarskjold High School shortly before 7 am EDT on Friday, March 29.
Thunder Bay Police Service has now established a special tip line specific to this investigation. Investigators urge anyone with knowledge about this threat to call 684-1545 to speak directly with an officer.
Additionally, with Hammarskjold HS closed due to a threat, the following schools are on a Hold and Secure until further notice: Algonquin PS, CD Howe PS and Gron Morgan PS.
UPDATE – On the advice of Thunder Bay Police, the precautionary hold and secures initiated at Algonquin Avenue Public School, CD Howe Public School and Gron Morgan Public School have been lifted.
