THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce welcomes the approval by City Council of a holistic Program and Service Review. According to the Terms of Reference approved last night, this will “include a detailed review of all the programs and services the city provides, how it provides them, what is working well and changes Council may wish to consider including enhancements and service reductions.”
“For some time, the Chamber has been advocating for a review of city services and programs as a first step towards addressing concerns about city spending,” says Charla Robinson, President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.
“We were encouraged when each of our Councillors said “yes” to the commitments of fiscal transparency and accountability in our City of Opportunity Platform, and we’re very pleased to see them following through. We believe this step will give Council and citizens tools to understand the real costs of City services, empowering Council’s decision–making and increasing taxpayer buy-in when hard choices must be made.”
