Paramedics Assaulted on Cumberland Street North

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Paramedics with the Superior North EMS responded to reports of a male in possible medical distress at a restaurant in the 100 block of Cumberland Street North just after 11 pm EDT on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

Thunder Bay Police state that the male became irate and combative while paramedics were attempting to assist him. The paramedics were able to restrain the male as Thunder Bay Police Service officers, who witnessed the assault, arrived at the scene.

The male continued to be combative as officers completed the arrest. He was then transported to the Thunder Bay Police Service headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

A 52-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with Assault x 2, Resist Peace Officer, and Failing to Comply With Condition Recognizance.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
