GREENSTONE – Solid work by the Ontario Provincial Police has led to the seizure of more Fentanyl.
On the 21 of March 2019 at 12:55 pm members of the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment received a report of an eastbound black sports car that had just stolen gas from a Nipigon service station. Police conducted patrol and observed the vehicle on Highway 11 just north of Windegokan Lake Road.
Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Hwy 11 just west of the Hwy 854 junction. Police arrested two male subjects from Mississauga, ON. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced 248 grams of purple Fentanyl with a street value of $124,000.
Nineteen-year-old Mohamad Al Zarif and twenty-one-year-old MHD Ali Bashir Almadani were both charged with the following offences:
- Theft under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance (Fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Both accused were held in custody and had a video bail hearing on March 22, 2019 a,t the Greenstone OPP Detachment.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
