KENORA – NEWS – Bob Nault, Member of Parliament (Kenora riding) has announced over $150,000 in funding for New Horizons for Seniors projects throughout the Kenora riding.
“Every year, organizations throughout the North apply for New Horizons for Seniors Program funding for community-based projects that foster social inclusion and engagement of seniors,” stated Nault. “These projects are lead or inspired by seniors and help to improve their quality of life.”
Projects receiving New Horizons for Seniors funding must address one of the program’s objectives:
- promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations
- engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others
- expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse
- supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors
- providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or projects for seniors
“Seniors continue to play an important role in the lives of Northerners and Canadians every day,” concluded Nault. “These projects will help them to stay active and involved in their communities.”
