THUNDER BAY – BREAKING – The Lakehead Public School Board advises: Update – 3:20 Police have given the all clear at Hamm – all students will be dismissed to catch buses and appropriate transportation as per regular schedule.

Earlier Today

Hammarskjold High School is currently in lockdown following an anonymous tip with regard to a safety concern. Thunder Bay Police are on site as per protocol.

The Lockdown at Hammarskjold will be lifted in time for the end of the school day.

15:23 EST Update

The Thunder Bay Police Service is currently investigating a weapons call at Hammarskjold high school.

An anonymous report about a student at the school with a weapon was received just before 11 am on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Police and school officials investigated and reopened the school.

A second report about a student with a weapon was received just after noon.

As a result, Hammarskjold has been placed on lockdown as Thunder Bay Police continue to investigate the anonymous threat.

Other schools in the area may have been placed on lockdown as a precautionary response to this investigation.

The Lakehead Public School Board advises that Algonquin Avenue PS and CD Howe PS are currently in a hold and secure as a precaution as well.
