Thunder Bay Police non-emergency line a target of cyber security threat

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police state that a cyber-security threat brought down their none emergency telephone lines today.

The Thunder Bay Police Service main phone number 684-1200 was taken offline today as a precaution following a cybersecurity threat.

The emergency 911 phone system was still active and officers were still able to respond to calls for service today. The non- emergency phone was restored at approximately 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.

The threat was isolated to the TBPS and was dealt with by our technology staff.

We’d like to thank the public for their understanding during this phone outage.
