Twenty-One-Year Old Arrested after Crash

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service officers were responding to a report of an unwanted person at a lodge in the 400 block of Balmoral Street at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

While at the scene officers observed an SUV being driven by a suspected impaired driver. Officers spoke to the driver, who accelerated away from police when asked to park his vehicle. The driver sped out of the parking lot and collided into a building across the street. He then exited his vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.

Police pursued the man on foot and placed him under arrest.

Police have charged a 21-year-old Thunder Bay man with Operation While Impaired Alcohol and Drugs, and Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Exceeding 80 mg per 100 ml of Blood.
