THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue report that at 08:20 am this morning, units was dispatched to a structural fire on the 700 block of Porcupine Blvd. in the city.
The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the attached garage of the house.
A second alarm was initiated, bringing a total of 6 pumpers, an aerial ladder and a Command vehicle to the incident.
The fire in the garage was quickly brought under control by the first arriving Pumper.
Damage to the garage, however, was extensive, along with moderate smoke damage to the rest of the house.
Occupants of the house were alerted by smoke alarms and escaped uninjured.
There were no injuries to firefighters on scene who had to brave -30C temperatures in putting out the blaze.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
