THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Lakehead’s women’s volleyball team hits the road again this weekend for a marathon trip that will see them play three games in as many days. Lakehead heads to Western for an 11:30 am game on Friday and a 2 pm game Saturday, then heads to Brock for a single 1 pm match on Sunday. The journey comes one weekend removed from Lakehead’s 2600+ km trip that last saw them play three games in three days.
“We have another long road trip this weekend with us playing three games,” Thunderwolves head coach Craig Barclay says. “We are hoping we can build off the momentum we created last weekend.”
The Thunderwolves are coming off a difficult weekend that saw them lose two home games to the McMaster Marauders, but Lakehead showed promise in the second match, pushing it to a fifth set that came down to the wire.
“The benchmark has been set,” Barclay says, “and it is up to us to continue to prep and play at a high level.”
Western currently sits in the middle of the tightly-grouped OUA West rankings with a 7-5 record, while Brock sits second at 8-5.
“Every team we face is fighting for something,” Barclay says, “and so are we.”
