Kenora OPP Shut down Cannabis Seller

KENORA – NEWS – On January 29, 2019, members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with members of the North West Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) executed a search warrant at a local business identified as Winnipeg River Naturals located on Highway 17E in City of Kenora, Ontario.

As a result of the warrant being executed, police seized 110 grams of suspected cannabis bud, 20 Indica / Sativa Sprays and five (5) THC Dropper Vials. Police also seized a cellphone and $2250 in Canadian currency.

Police identified and arrested the business owner and an employee.

Jaye Lynn WESLEY, a 48-year-old female from Kenora, Ontario was charged with Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).

Roderick ALLISON, a 66-year-old male from Kenora, Ontario was charged with Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).

Both accused were released on an Appearance Notice and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Kenora, Ontario on March 7, 2019.

The OPP and its partners continue to work with communities and engage all stakeholders with respect to enforcement action on illegal cannabis storefronts.

The OPP is continuing to lead an enforcement strategy which includes other Ontario police services. This strategy will reflect actionable intelligence on illegal cannabis operations.

The focus of the strategy is to dismantle organized crime groups, eliminate the illegal cannabis supply, remove illegal cannabis enterprises such as store fronts and online, and target the proceeds of crime and assets.
