82-Year-Old Identified as Deceased Person in Highway 102 Accident

THUNDER BAY – On January 29, 2019, at approximately 12:05 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Kaministiquia Volunteer Fire Department, and Superior North Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 102 and Hill Road.

The driver of a passenger vehicle driving on Hill Road, entered the intersection onto Highway 102 to proceed eastbound and collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Violet KRAUSE, 82 years of age, from Ware Township.

Highway 102 was closed for approximately six hours as OPP Technical Collision Officers (TCI) investigated the collision.
