THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The Arctic grip on the region continues. For the City of Thunder Bay, Environment Canada says we can expect a mix of sun and cloud this morning. Wind up to 15 km/h. The high, if you wish to call it that, will be minus 21. The wind chill minus 50 in the morning and minus 28 in the afternoon.
For tonight expect cloudy skies with periods of light snow beginning this evening. Snowfall amounting to 2 cm. Winds up to 15 km/h. Tonight’s low minus 24. Wind chill near minus 34.
The extreme cold has cancelled school buses this morning.
Due to extremely cold weather ALL student transportation is CANCELLED FOR THIS MORNING (Mon, Jan 28). ELEMENTARY and LPS SECONDARY transportation will run as normally scheduled in the PM. Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

Extreme cold winds chills this morning.
Extreme wind chills of minus 40 to minus 50 will continue early this morning before cloud cover develops this morning, helping to moderate temperatures into this afternoon.
Cloud cover and milder temperatures tonight will prevent wind chills from falling to warning criteria.
However, below seasonal temperatures will continue over Northern Ontario through the rest of the week, with wind chill values once again falling to the minus 40 to minus 45 range over areas northwest of Lake Superior and to the minus 35 to 40 range over areas east of Lake Superior.
