Dryden Police Officer Injured During Altercation

DRYDEN – NEWS – On January 19, 2019, at approximately 8:30 pm, Officers with the Dryden Police Service were called to the Patricia Inn Bar in regards to an unwanted female. The Accused, identified as Michelle Ashley WESLEY -31 years of age of Dryden, ON, had been requested to leave the establishment numerous times by staff, at which time the police were called.

Upon arrival, Dryden Police provided WESLEY with numerous opportunities to leave.

WESLEY failed to leave when directed and was placed under arrest as per the Trespass to Property Act.

Upon escorting the accused out of the bar, WESLEY began to kick at the police. Once on the ground, Police attempted to gain control of WESLEY at which time the accused who had a knife in her hand, swung at one of the officers narrowly missing the officer. Before officers could secure the knife, the accused ultimately was able to strike another officer in the leg with the knife.

Michelle Ashley WESLEY was arrested and faces the following charges:

  • 2 counts of Assault with a Weapon
  • 2 counts of Assault Police
  • 1 count of Possession of Weapons for a Dangerous Purpose

WESLEY remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The officer sustained a superficial cut and was treated and released from the hospital.
