Police Charge Man with Attempted Murder

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers reported to calls of a male being struck with a vehicle in the Arthur Street Walmart parking lot just before 11 pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

When uniformed officers arrived they located the male victim who appeared to have severe injuries.

Officers quickly located the vehicle involved and identified the accused, who was still at the scene.

Through the course of the investigation, police found out that the accused had struck the victim with his sedan. The accused and victim were not known to each other.

The accused was arrested at the scene.

Shawn Ryan Purdy, 35, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Attempt Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Operate Causing Bodily Harm.

He appeared in court Thursday morning and was remanded into custody with a future date of Jan. 21, 2019.
