THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Organizers of Canada’s National Midget Hockey Championship announced today that early bird tickets for the week-long tournament being held in Thunder Bay are now on sale.
“Early Bird week long Event Packages are now available at the very affordable price of $63 each for Adults and $42 for those under 18,” says Michael Power, Chair of the organizing committee. “The event package gives you the opportunity to watch 19 of some of the best hockey games you will see this year” he said. “In the past many of those who played in the TELUS Cup have gone on to be NHL players.”
“The TELUS Cup is one of Hockey Canada’s premier events and it provides fans the opportunity to watch six of the top Midget teams in Canada compete on the national stage,” said Power. “The early-bird ticket package is an affordable way for fans to secure their seat early for this prestigious event, and to contribute back to the long-term health of minor hockey in Thunder Bay as 100% of the event profits go back to support the game locally.”
The host Thunder Bay Kings, who have won the TELUS Cup twice (1995 and 1997), will welcome five regional representatives – Atlantic, Central, Quebec, Pacific and West – to the 3,371-seat Fort William Gardens as they look to be crowned national champions this coming April.
Each weekday evening of the Cup will see the Thunder Bay Kings playing against one of the visiting teams, with the semi-finals and finals scheduled for the weekend. Monday through Thursday the games will be at noon, 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm, with Friday’s games at 11:00 am, 3:00 pm and 6:30 pm. The weekend games are at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
All those purchasing the Early Bird Event Package will be automatically eligible to win a Hockey Canada jersey. The Special Early Bird pricing is only available until February 1st.
Tickets can be obtained by going to the HockeyCanada.ca website and clicking on Championships or by googling the Thunder Bay Kings. Single-game tickets will be available for purchase at a later date.
