THUNDER BAY – LETTERS – It sounds ominous people but take a breath. You see this is declared to provide funding for those who are on the streets and homeless. You know, those people that your municipal governments refuse to help or given tickets to get out of Thunder Bay.
Well, Toronto is the very last refuge, for these homeless people from all over Ontario. So whatever you say about Toronto. It does try and support the poor while your city government shoves the problem onto Toronto. … I know this. Because I was disabled and Thunder Bay Area health refused to issue the proper support funding. I am disabled.
Now many towns up there, have token disabled. The rest they push onto the bus. … So yes. Its important for the city to declare weather alerts to notify all the support systems in this huge city that extra funding is available.
That those on the streets must be made aware of new shelter opportunities. It is to save lives.
I am from Northern Ontario. You think I want to be here? But this city supports those in need, the ones that cannot find mental health, senior citizens, unemployment or medical assistance that you should provide, Toronto provides.
Yes, it’s an extreme cold alert. You think it sounds funny. But it says a hell of a lot about the city of and the towns in the District of Thunder Bay. Toronto steps up. You didn’t.
