The provincial inquest into the deaths of seven students gets underway in Thunder Bay

GERALDTON – NEWS – On January 7, 2019, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a weapons call on Highway 584, north of Geraldton, Ontario.

Police received a 911 call from a member of the public reporting that a male sitting in a vehicle on the side of Highway 584, near Murkey Creek, had pointed a firearm at them as they drove past. The suspect vehicle then left the area heading southbound.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later in the Town of Geraldton and took one male into custody. A replica handgun was also located inside the vehicle.

Eric MAGISKAN, a 42-year-old male from Aroland First Nation, ON has been charged with two counts of Pointing a Firearm contrary to Section 87 of the Criminal Code and two counts of Possession of an imitation weapon for dangerous purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.

MAGISKAN is scheduled to appear by video in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay, Ontario on January 8, 2019, to answer to the charge.
