International Silver Stick in Michigan awaits peewee & bantam Kings

THUNDER BAY – SPORTS –  Both the Thunder Bay AAA peewee and bantam Kings will commence the 2019 portion of their respective schedules in Port Huron, Mich., this weekend as the two clubs will be competing in the 56th annual International Silver Stick event.

Thunder Bay’s peewees open up competition Thursday at 2 p.m. as they take on the Syracuse Nationals.

Friday has a pair of match-ups on the Kings’ docket with contests vs. the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers at 9:30 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. encounter against the Toronto Titans.

They will then wrap-up round-robin play Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at they meet Detroit Little Caesars.

As for the bantams, they too begin play Thursday as they square off against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres at 6 p.m.

Detroit Honeybaked at 9:30 a.m. and the Toronto Nationals at 5 p.m. provide the opposition for the team Saturday while the Ohio Blue Jackets await them Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

There are 28 teams taking part in the AAA bantam conference and 18 in the AAA peewee group with quarter-final action going Saturday night while the semifinals and championship games go Sunday.
