THUNDER BAY – Update from City of Thunder Bay – Roads

Roadways

As of 8 am this morning all Arterial and Collectors streets will be cleared. As soon as possible, graders will move into residential areas focusing on opening at least one side of all residential streets by the end of the workday.

Resources will be back out a 2 am tomorrow to increase snow storage capacity at location, deal with drifting snow and cleanup areas. Residential streets snow clearing will resume at 9 am and should be completed by Sunday.

Sidewalks

Due to the volume of snow received the sidewalk plows need to attach a blower unit to the sidewalk plow in order to clear sidewalks. The blower attachment is slower moving compared to the blade and will take longer for sidewalks to be cleared. Arterial and Collector sidewalks should be completed in 36 hours or by the end of Saturday.

Residential sidewalks clearing will not commence till all Arterial and Collector sidewalks have been addressed. Residential sidewalks should be completed by the end of January 3, 2019.
