THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada is now predicting as much as 35 cm of snow to hit Thunder Bay as a result of the winter storm now hitting the city.

Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Major winter storm to affect the region today through to Friday morning.

Snow at times heavy is expected to continue over portions of Northern Ontario today and persist into Friday. Total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 35 cm are possible with the highest amounts expected near Lake Superior. Strong northeast winds gusting to 60 km/h will develop overnight resulting in reduced visibility due to blowing snow.

Conditions should improve Friday morning.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
