THUNDER BAY – NEWS – At 10:40 pm last night the TBFRS was dispatched to a structural fire at 450 Memorial Ave which is the Travelodge Hotel.
Once the smoke was visible on the second floor a Second Alarm was called for more apparatus and manpower. The first arriving unit made an aggressive interior attack on the fire which knocked the fire down immediately.
All patrons of the establishment were quickly evacuated by staff and firefighters. The crews completed a primary search to eliminate the chance of anyone in the fire room. Once the fire was under control the crews checked for any extension into other rooms or compartments but there was none.
The room the fire was in suffered extensive damage with no injuries to the patron of that room and this incident is currently under investigation by the TBFRS Fire Prevention Officers.
There were five pumpers that responded with one aerial ladder, the Platoon Chief and a 4-wheel-drive with a total of 24 personnel on the scene
