THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay is inviting residents to share their input through an online survey about the future of cannabis retail in the City and whether or not allowing bricks-and-mortar stores would receive support from the community.
Municipalities have a one-time window to make a decision about whether to opt out of allowing private sector stores within the boundaries of the community. Otherwise, it is an automatic opt-in that could see cannabis stores opening as early as April 1, 2019.
The survey results, along with key recommendations gathered, will be compiled into a report to be presented to City Council Jan. 14.
Information related to opting in and opting out, as well as the survey, which runs from Dec. 7 until 12 pm Jan. 2, 2019, can be found on the City’s website here: www.thunderbay.ca/cannabisstores.
