THUNDER BAY – The Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIRPD) will release its systemic review of the Thunder Bay Police Service on Wednesday, December 12. 2018 at a press conference at the DaVinci Centre.

It’s been over two years since the unprecedented review started, prompted by a complaint by the family and community of Stacey DeBungee over how police handled his death investigation. DeBungee was found dead in the McIntyre River in 2015.

OIPRD Director Gerry McNeilly has reviewed more than 30 police investigations as part of his systemic review.

Senator Murray Sinclair is also doing an investigation of the Thunder Bay Police Services Board, that report has yet to have a release date set.
