TORONTO – NEWS – Ontario Regional Chief RoseAnne Archibald has issued a statement on the alleged incident that happened in Thunder Bay involving an Indigenous youth.

“We, the Chiefs across Ontario, are very troubled and condemn the recent actions of a Thunder Bay police officer’s conduct towards a young First Nations woman from Nibinamik First Nation. The actions of the officer, striking an immobilized young First Nations woman cannot be condoned nor justified.

We fully offer our support to Chief Johnny Yellowhead, the community, her friends and family in their ongoing search for answers and justice from the Thunder Bay Police Services.

The safety, security, and well-being of all women and youth in this country has to be a top priority.”
