Dryden Police lay first charge under the new Cannabis Act

A 62-year-old male has been charged with Having Care and Control of a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available after being stopped at a R.I.D.E. Check Program on the evening of November 22, 2018. The driver faces a provincial offence fine in the amount of $215 dollars. Subsequent roadside testing indicated the driver was not impaired.

Male Charged with Assaulting Police and Mischief a police vehicle

On November 23, 2018, Dryden Police Service received a call of a disturbance of an intoxicated male at the Tim Horton parking lot. The male was located at the Extra Foods parking lot where he immediately began to fight with officers, threaten to kill officers and once under arrest damaged, a police vehicle.

Sandeep Singh DHADWAL – a 34-year-old male of Dryden, Ontario has been charged with 2 counts of Assault Police, 6 counts of Uttering Death Threats, Resist Arrest and Mischief Over $5000. DHADWAL remains in custody and is to appear for bail in Sioux Lookout later today.

Youth Faces Impaired Charges

On November 24, 2018, Dryden Police attended a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Gordon Road where a car went off the road into the ditch. The 17-year-old driver has subsequently been charged with Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle and Drive with Over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

The accused faces further provincial offences charges; Have care and control of a vehicle with Cannabis readily available – Cannabis Control Act; Person Under 19 possess cannabis – Cannabis Control Act; Drive a motor vehicle with open container of liquor – Liquor License Act.
