THUNDER  BAY – LIVING – Kindle your holiday spirit with two fun, family-friendly events at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP)! Join us on December 8thand 9thfor Ignite the Fort from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the Star of Bethlehem from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Ignite the Fort will feature exciting, family-friendly activities including wagon rides, cookie decorating and candy making, scavenger hunts, and fun contests to win great prizes! Visitors can also watch the Fort’s artisans make Tincicle decorations and dress up as a historic character to “Capture the Past” with a heritage-style holiday photo opportunity. At 6:00 pm we’ll “Ignite the Fort” with a brilliant tree lighting ceremony and carolling in the Main Square. The Cantine Restaurant will also be open, serving a variety of heritage and contemporary menu offerings.

Ignite the Fort will feature two great opportunities to support the United Way. For $1.00 you will be able to purchase a bulb for the giant holiday tree and for $5.00 you can purchase a loaf of our delicious homemade artisan bread. Proceeds from these initiatives will be donated to the United Way.

The festivities continue immediately following Ignite the Fort with the Star of Bethlehem event at the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory. Launch into an evening of discovery and intrigue as you uncover the most popular opinions about the origin of the Star of Bethlehem, and explore the night sky for the Star of Bethlehem and other celestial wonders.

Ignite the Fort event-only and Star of Bethlehem event-only tickets are $10 for adults,

$8 for students, seniors and youth, and children 5 and under are FREE. You can also join us for a full evening of holiday family fun with the Stars Ignite Combo-Pass, which provides admission to Ignite the Fort and the Star of Bethlehem. Stars Ignite Combo- Passes are $15 for adults, $11 for students, seniors (60+) and youth (6-12), and children 5 and under are FREE.
