KENORA – Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, attended the Rainy River Federation of Agriculture meeting in Stratton to announce support for Delton Martin, Allen Jolicouer, Cornell Farms and A.G.’s Produce.

“Northerners will benefit from a strong agri-food sector through increased services, employment opportunities and an improved business climate,” said Minister Rickford.

“Supporting Ontario’s agri-food sector is good for communities and businesses in the North,” said Minister Rickford. “These investments will help farmers and small businesses expand and create opportunities to grow our economy while enhancing competitiveness and producing prosperity in rural and urban areas. This sends a clear message that Northern
Ontario is Open for Business.” Investments include:
• $44,500 for Delton Martin to expand its cattle operation in Stratton.
• $43,500 for Allen Jolicouer for its cow/calf operation in Barwick.
• $32,500 for Cornell Farms to expand farming operations in Devlin by increasing the storage capacity and relocating the crop storage.
• $8,887 for A.G.’s Produce to build an additional greenhouse to meet the demand for fresh produce year-round in Emo.

The funding for the projects will build capacity in Northern Ontario’s agri-food sector while empowering farmers, entrepreneurs and businesses in creating and sustaining employment.
