Fire at Walkover Street Residence Under Investigation

THUNDER BAY – On November 3/2018 at 13:07 Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received an alarm reporting a possible structural fire in a home at 11 Walkover St.

Three pumpers and Aerial ladder and the Platoon Chief were dispatched.

The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke coming from the building. A second alarm was called responding 2 more pumpers to the scene, for a total or 21 firefighters at the scene.

Bystanders reported that an occupant was still inside the home; Firefighters immediately entered the home and discovered the occupant, successfully removing them from the burning building.

Emergency care was rendered to the occupant on the scene with the assistance of Superior North EMS who then transported the patient to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center with life-threatening injuries.

The fire was quickly brought under control and is currently under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal and Thunder Bay Police.
