THUNDER BAY – Sol Mamakwe is the MPP for the Kiiwetinoong riding. Since being elected as the first person elected in this new riding, Mamakwe has been very active in the Ontario Legislature.

He has led the Legislature in a moment of silence for a young Indigenous person who committed suicide.

Mamakwa sees part of his responsibility in teaching fellow MPPs about some of the realities of living in Ontario’s north.

In this first interview with NetNewsLedger, Sol shares some of what he has tried to share in the Legislature, and how that experience is for him as the NDP MPP for the riding.
