‘Axe Cancer’ is First Axe-Throwing Tournament Fundraiser in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Camp Quality Northwestern Ontario was excited to launch a new fundraising event Friday, the first of its kind in Thunder Bay. ‘Axe Cancer’ presented by Canadian Tire Thunder Centre is an axe-throwing tournament that will take place on Sunday, November 18 at Northern Axperts, now located in Wacky’s. A pledge-based fundraiser, the event will provide an important opportunity for Camp Quality to raise funds for its programs, campers and families.

“We are thrilled to be the first to bring this unique fundraiser to our community and look forward to some axe-throwing fun while we are decked out in our flannels and plaids,” said Ashleigh Quarrell, Director, Camp Quality Northwestern Ontario. “Each bullseye will get us closer to our target of raising $10,000 in support of our campers and their families. We are grateful to Canadian Tire Thunder Centre for stepping up as our presenting sponsor to help us launch this exciting event.”

A maximum of 15 teams of four will be able to register for the event. Participants must be 18+, will be required to pay a $40 registration fee and will be asked to raise a minimum of $50 each. Prizes will be awarded for the highest fundraising team, highest fundraising individual, tournament winners and more. Axe Cancer is a new national fundraising event, being hosted by Camp Quality chapters across the country. All proceeds from the Thunder Bay event will support campers and their families in the northwestern Ontario region.

“It is a privilege to be able to sponsor this event,” said Bob Nearing, Owner, Canadian Tire Thunder Centre. “This is just the beginning of our continuously growing relationship with Camp Quality, a wonderful camp and program that helps our community. We wish great success for this fundraising event and future events that we will take part in.”

Camp Quality has additional sponsorship opportunities available. Any interested organizations or individuals should contact jacqueline.hanley@campquality.org for more information.
