LONDON – LIVING – My husband and I recently decided to renovate our kitchen and back porch area. We’ve been living in our house for about two years, and we wanted to create an outdoor dining area that we were proud of, as well as a transition space that was functional and easy to use. And that meant making some major improvements to the kitchen, patio area, and screen doors.

I consulted Pinterest for some design ideas for the patio and felt really solid in my plan to redecorate with granite countertops, a white patio aesthetic with teal accents, and a new patio door, but when it came to the screen itself, I struggled to find a good option. We live in the South so warm, humid summers are the norm, and we wanted something that would keep the house cool, but also be easy to go in and out of multiple times a day while we’re grilling out, or eating outside. As much as I love sitting out on my patio, screen doors and patio design is not my area of expertise!

A friend suggested Super Screen, so I decided to look into it. SuperScreen is a special carbon fiber window screen covering that offers lasting durability, UV tolerant properties, and supreme visibility. These screens are known for lasting forever (even with the 10-year warranty!), and are also pet-, mildew- and wind-damage-resistant. My friend said she installed her Super Screens over a year ago, and other than a little dust and dirt, they basically still looked brand new.

We invested in Super Screen for our new sliding glass door that leads out to our patio, and I’m so glad we did! The quality is incredible. Plus, with the slightly darker shade (the mesh is a dark grey/black color), these screens provide some light, but very helpful shade and protection during peak sun hours, which helps keeps our indoor kitchen cool and shaded from the sun. The fine mesh allows the summer breeze to blow through but keeps everything else (including mosquitos) out. Because of the sun protection factor, and the superior quality, we’re able to leave the door open with just the Super Screen protector out during the day, which has helped our energy bill substantially during the hot summer months.

I was also worried that we wouldn’t find a screen that fit the modernized design of our new kitchen and patio, but the advanced technology and sleek look of Super Screen fit right in with our modern façade. The curb appeal of our home (and the compliments we get from friends when they come over) has gone way up! The clean aesthetic blends in perfectly with the modernized look of our home, and I’m thrilled to know that I won’t have to worry about fading or bleaching as I did with our previous screens.

We couldn’t be happier with our choice to go with SuperScreen for our remodelled patio and screen door. Check them out if you need a new carbon fiber window screen for your home!
