Magnus Theatre has been entertaining local audiences for more than 40 years.

THUNDER BAY – ENTERTAINMENT – This fall, Magnus Theatre presents one of the biggest, most groundbreaking, and over the top classics of pop culture.  The larger than life cult musical that spawned a larger than life cult film, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show opens October 19th at Magnus Theatre.

Sweethearts Brad and Janet are driving along a country road in a stormy night when a flat tire brings them to the home of the fabulous and mysterious Dr. Frank N Furter. Along with his crew of unique characters, Frank invites Brad and Janet to take part in the unveiling of his latest creation, Rocky. Brad and Janet battle giving into their darkest temptations and experience the craziest night of their lives!

Since the very first incarnation, O’Brien’s horror-comedy-rock-musical has encouraged audience participation with a now-famous set of cat-calls and props, and with a few exceptions, Magnus Theatre’s production will be no exception.

“This is a great show, one of the funniest musicals I think I’ve ever worked on, “ says Magnus Artistic Director Thom Currie, who is directing the musical, along with Musical Director Giustin MacLean,  and Choreographer Julie Tomaino, who wowed audiences last season with her creations for We Will Rock You. “It is not a show for the faint of heart: it is very naughty, has some elements of horror and some great physical comedy, along with some of the great songs.  Audiences should be prepared to dress up, sing along, heckle and dance The Time Warp with this exceptional cast.  Bring your glow sticks, your newspapers and get ready to snap your rubber gloves for a hilarious night out at Magnus.”

The show features a diverse and highly talented cast of professional actors from across Canada.  Heading the cast is W. Joseph Matheson as Frank.  Matheson is a familiar face in theatres around the world, having performed in national and international productions of Jersey Boys, Miss Saigon and The Who’s Tommy as well the European Tour of The Rocky Horror Show. Local favourites Spencer Hari and Amy Sellors return to the stage alongside Magnus veterans Dean Deffett, Ryan G. Hinds and Chelsea Preston.  New to Magnus Theatre are Colin Simmons and Kayla James as Brad and Janet and Hal Wesley Rogers as Rocky. Rounding out the cast are Michele Shuster, Josh Graetz and Alishia Suitor. The four-piece band features local Thunder Bay musicians.

The Rocky Horror Show previews Thursday, October 18th at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The Gala Opening Night Performance takes place Friday, October 19th.  The show runs until November 10th. Tickets are on sale for all performances. For tickets, the box office is available in person at the theatre, by phone (807) 345-5552, or online at magnustheatre.com.
