KENORA – NEWS – On October 6, 2018, at approximately 5:57 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Detachment responded to a disturbance at a downtown apartment block in the City of Kenora.
A 63-year-old male was transported by the North West Emergency Medical Services (NWEMS) to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
As a result, Steven R. YOUNG, 57-years-old, of Kenora was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder contrary to section 235 (1) of the Criminal Code. He appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 7, 2018, and is being held in custody.
Members of the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of Detective Inspector David MacDONALD of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
