Weather – Far North under Wind Warning

ATTAWAPISKAT – WEATHER – Heavy winds are in the forecast for the next 12 to 24 hours across the north of Ontario. As well as strong winds with gusts of up to 90 km/h Environment Canada is calling for 5-10 cm of snow.

That snow could cause blowing snow on Thursday.

Air traffic in the north could also be impacted by winds and weather conditions. Check with your air service provider to ensure your flight is on time.

Wind warning in effect for:

  • Peawanuck
  • Attawapiskat
  • Fort Albany
  • Moosonee

There is a Special Weather Statement in effect for Fort Severn, Ogoki / Marten Falls, Landsdowne House, and Webequie. Winds in those areas are slightly less powerful with gusts of up to 80 km /h.

The winds are expected to weaken by Thursday evening.
