THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars forward Keighan Gerrie has been named its initial Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the 2018-19 campaign.
In two road contests over the weekend the 17-year-old Thunder Bay product registered a SIJHL-best six points helping the North Stars go 1-0-1 overall.
Gerrie started off by notching a career-single-game-high four goals, which included the game-winner, Friday night in his club’s 6-4 victory in Red Lake.
He then notched two assists Saturday as Thunder Bay was edged 5-4 in overtime at Dryden.
Last season’s SIJHL Rookie of the Year, Gerrie now has 57 points to his credit in his first 55 league games as he has tallied 28 times while helping set-up 29 others.
Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Brett Piper, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Jaedin Ness, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Cameron Coutre, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Ryan Patterson, (F) Red Lake Miners and Lukas Lundgren, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
