THUNDER BAY – Winds are causing problems across the city this afternoon. Earlier today, winds brought down parts of the roofing facade at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The winds have also caused issues for Thunder Bay Hydro.
Thunder Bay Hydro has released the following statement:
High winds and wet leaves on trees are causing multiple power outages across the city.
As of the writing of this release, there are thirteen known areas affected by downed power lines and multiple reports of other service cables down. Because many outages have been isolated down to the immediate area of trouble or are concentrated in the rural areas, the number of customers affected is currently estimated to be under 1000.
Residents are cautioned to stay away from downed power lines and report them via 911. The outage map page at the Thunder Bay Hydro website provides the most current information about known outages and estimated restoration times.
