United Way 2018THUNDER BAY – The United Way of Thunder Bay’s 2018 Campaign Chair, Stephanie Noel and her team of volunteers kicked off the 2018 Fall Campaign this morning at the annual Campaign Breakfast, held at and sponsored by the Valhalla Inn along with Maverick Audio & Visual.

Every day, people across our community struggle to build better lives for themselves and their families. These challenges are fueled by serious social and economic barriers, making it remarkably difficult to get ahead. Challenges like poverty, mental wellness, and isolation are issues that affect all of us. There are gaps between those who are doing well financially and those who are not. This threatens the strong social fabric that is vital to a healthy and connected community. With the support of our community partners, the United Way of Thunder Bay is committed to helping local people and families build better lives. Our vision, as an organization, is for a community where people help people live with hope, dignity and a sense of belonging.
When community-minded people join forces to fight the same issues, incredible results are achieved. The positive outcomes are: supports are available and accessible when needed; additional pathways out of poverty are created and; a stronger and more connected community is built. “In order to achieve this goal of impact we must have a monetary goal that stands behind it.” says Stephanie Noel. “The 2018 Campaign Team would like to announce our monetary goal of $2,280,000”.
We are very proud to have the endorsement and support of local corporations and businesses who believe in the work we do. This year, we are very excited to announce two matching grants as incentives for giving:
We are grateful to the J.Armand Bombardier Foundation, together with Bombardier Transportation Inc., for their generous matching grant of $20,000. The 12-4-12 program will see every person who becomes a brand new Leader of the Way, have their $1,200 donation to the United Way Community Fund fully matched. Current Leaders who increase their donation by 10% to the Community Fund will also receive a 10% match.

This is an excellent time to Step Up to Leadership!

We have also partnered with Tbaytel on a brand new 10-4-10 program . That’s $10,000 for 10 new employee campaigns! It’s as easy as 1. Start a United Way Workplace Campaign; 2. Make a Corporate Donation or match; 3. Tbaytel will generously provide $1,000 to United Way’s Community Fund for the first 10 workplace campaigns started with an accompanying corporate donation, to a maximum of $10,000! We would like to thank Tbaytel for your display of outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility. To set up your employee campaign, and for more information, please contact Campaign Director, Jodie Wilson at 623-6420.
Please give generously – your donation will change lives for the better! Donations can be made through your Employee Payroll Campaign, by cash, cheque, credit or direct debit as well as securely online at www.uwaytbay.ca or in person at 1006-715 Hewitson Street.

Together we make a strong, connected community.
