THUNDER BAY – LETTERS – When everyone else says you can’t, determination says, YES YOU CAN! We, the ones who are challenged, need to be heard. To be seen not as a disability, but as a person who has and will continue to bloom. To be seen not only as being different but as a well intact human being.” “Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.” If the world thinks you’re not good enough, it’s a lie, you know. Get a second opinion.

He asked again for the list of sporting teams. His teacher gave him the sports and informed him that the cut-offs for volleyball was last Friday but there were other sporting events. He then took it upon himself to go and address it with the principal. She listened to mitch and told him that he could, by all means, try for any teams but please know that not all kids get played all the time. Completely fair.

His teacher spent time with him today pointing out all the ones he could try for sure.

Long distance running, badminton curling etc. Then the teacher and principal went above and beyond and asked the volleyball team coach if Mitch could possibly be assistant coach or manager.

So so proud of him for standing up for himself and other classmates. And happy with the school. All around successful day. Next thing I will help him with to address is why there is no awards or scholarships for the special needs students.

Go Mitch go!
