THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Don Rusnak has announced he is stepping down from his role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services.
Rusnak says that he is stepping down from his role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services citing the intense travel schedule and his time away from his young family and riding as the reasons for this decision.
MP Don Rusnak’s official statement follows:
“It has been an honour to serve this past year as the first ever Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services. However, the intense travel schedule associated with this position has prevented me from spending as much time as I would like with my young family and the community members of my riding of Thunder Bay-Rainy River.
It is therefore upon considerable reflection that I have chosen to step down from my role as Parliamentary Secretary.
It was an incredible honour to be given this position by Prime Minister Trudeau and to work with colleagues as talented as Minister Philpott. The work the Minister has done in partnership with Indigenous peoples is historic, and being given the opportunity to work with communities to help improve their services will always remain one of the highest honours of my professional career.
I look forward to continue serving the people of Thunder Bay-Rainy River and campaigning for their support in 2019.”
