RED LAKE – The Red Lake/Ear Falls Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid two more charges of Impaired Driving in recent weeks. On August 7 at approximately 4:05 pm, police received several reports from motorists of an impaired driver who had stopped their vehicle in the southbound lane of Highway 105 in the area of Aerobus Lake Road. Police responded to the call for service and located the vehicle around Golden Hook Camp. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer could tell he was under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest for impaired driving and returned to the detachment for further tests. Darcy

Darcy Green, 39, of Shoal Lake 39 First Nation, is charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Code as well as Theft over $5000 contrary to Section 334(a) of the Criminal Code as it was determined the truck he was driving was not his. He was released to appear in Red Lake court on September 27, 2018.
On August 26 at approximately 1:30 am, police were on patrol in the Municipality of Red Lake when they observed a driver that failed to dim their high beam lights. Police subsequently stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver who was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The subject was arrested for impaired driving and returned to the detachment for further tests. As a result of the investigation, Joel Marion, 36 of Cochenour, is charged with Impaired Driving and Drive with over 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Code. He was released by way of a promise to appear in Red Lake court on September 27, 2018.
Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly and don’t drink and drive.
