THUNDER BAY – Consortium Aurora Borealis launches its Ruby Anniversary Season, “A Dazzling Celebration”, with the concert “The Enchanting Flute”. Flautist Doris Dungan, joined by pianist Heather Morrison, will present an enticing variety of music spanning 150 years, ranging from idyllic lyricism to flashy display. On offer are works by Kuhlau, Poulenc, Prokofiev, and Borne’s romantic Fantasie Brillante on themes from Bizet’s Carmen. It is fitting that Dungan and Morrison, well-loved performers with Consortium since its very earliest days, be the ones to open its 40th year of exceptional music-making.
