Thunder Bay – NEWS – Unifor Local 229 has reached a tentative agreement with doctors at the Port Arthur Health Centre that if ratified, would end a 128-day strike.
“We have repeatedly said that the employer just needed to sit down and bargain and I am so proud of these 65 incredible women for their resolve over the last four months,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President.
A ratification vote will be held this evening. The PAHC board will then have to approve the agreement that was reached after just one day back at the bargaining table.
“This bargaining committee is unanimously recommending that members accept this agreement which will see patient care return to normal as soon as possible,” said Katha Fortier, Assistant to the National President.
No further details will be released until both parties have voted on whether to accept the agreement.
