KENORA – WEATHER – Heat Warnings have been issued by Environment Canada for the western regions of Northwestern Ontario.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • Kenora – Grassy Narrows – Whitedog
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson

Humidex values reaching 36 are expected.

A heat event beginning today and continuing through Monday.

Another hot and humid air mass will move into western portions of Northwestern and Far Northwestern Ontario today. Daytime maximum temperatures are forecast to reach the low thirties with humidex values reaching the mid to high thirties. Overnight low temperatures are forecast to only fall to near 20 degrees, providing little relief from the heat.

Cooler temperatures and lower humidity are expected by Monday night with the passage of a cold front.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
