Impaired Driving Charges follow Fort Frances OPP Vehicle Stop

FORT FRANCES – OPP CRIME REPORT – On July 29, 2018, at approximately 2:25 am, a member of the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on King’s Highway in Fort Frances. The officer spoke with the driver, whom he determined was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment, where he underwent more tests.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher BIG GEORGE, 26 years of age, of Couchiching First Nation, was charged with the following offences:

  1. Driving with more than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
  2. Novice driver – B.A.C. (blood alcohol concentration) above zero contrary to section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario,
  3. Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour contrary to section 5(1)(6) of Highway Traffic Act Ontario Regulation 340/94.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend court in answer to the charges at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on August 27, 2018.
