Assault Charges Follow Attack on Whitesand First Nation

ARMSTRONG – On July 21, 2018, at approximately 8:05 am, officers from the Armstrong Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Whitesand First Nation.

At approximately 5:00 am, a female was walking in the community of Whitesand First Nation when she was assaulted by a group of females.

The female was transported to the hospital in Thunder Bay by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Three females from Whitesand First Nation have been arrested and charged:

Tiffany BAXTER, 21 years of age, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose section 88 of the Criminal Code.

Valee MOORE, 20 years of age, has been charged with Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

A young person, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

They are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Armstrong on September 18, 2018, to answer to the charges.
