CAMP QUALITY – Our 6thand final full day at camp has finally come. Every year this week seems to flash before our eyes and before we know it we are welcoming the campers’ parents to Camp Duncan for brunch on day 7. But before we do that, we still have 24 hours of fun to be had.

Our day began with a lovely sleep-in until 9:15 and breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and cereal. Although we had a longer sleep this morning, tired eyes were present throughout the dining hall as our week of late nights are slowly catching up to us all.

Next up was a fun morning of baking for our campers – because of course, baking is a science too! There were cakes, cupcakes, and cookies made before being rushed to the oven to bake in time for our dinner dessert. In between, campers and volunteers were playing some games and finishing up their Q-Mail before the end of the week.

An impromptu game of soccer/baseball at the park filled up some free time before our lunch at 1:00. Our final lunch as a CQ 2018 group was perogies, sausages, and beans. Delicious as always thanks to our awesome kitchen staff.

What’s a day at CQ without swim time? Swimming and tubing time ran from 2:00-4:00 and although the sun wasn’t shining as bright as it has been all week, we still managed to make a splash. Thank you to all of the Loon Lakers who joined us this week to take the kids tubing: Alyvia, Andrew Carol, Jessica, Jory, Max and Tara. With all that swim time taking a toll on our energy, it was time for a quick toes up.

Feedback forms were turned in for logbooks, a photo record of everyone who joined us for camp in 2018. A memory of this crazy week and everyone’s new friends, log books are passed around to sign messages for everyone to read when they get home.

Before we knew it the dinner bell rung for dinner – TACOS! Whether it was a taco, taco salad or taco in a bag, all variations were delicious. Because of our departure from Camp Duncan tomorrow morning, we took the next couple hours to clean up our cabins a bit, play a couple games and get ready for the big dance party later in the night.

Before the party started we had the opportunity to say goodbye and congratulations to our graduating campers – Braeden and Brendan. Both campers have been going to camp for over 10 years and have grown up in front of CQ’s eyes. We wish both of them the best of luck in their futures and will make sure they stay connected to their CQ family as alumni.

The last award given out was the Quinten Spirit Memorial Award. This is given to a camper who participates in lots of activities, is a good friend to others and is positive and enthusiastic throughout the week. This year’s recipient is… LILLIAN – Congratulations!

With all of our recognitions done it was time to party. Singing, dancing and snacks of course. Our science theme continued with beaker glasses for drinks and candy as well as a laboratory backdrop for photos to be taken.

To end off our night and week here at CQ 2018 we had an amazing firework show put on by Fireworks Unlimited. This was followed by a couple more moves on the dance floor, music provided by Mike from Partie Sound. This week was filled with laughs, friendship, fun and a couple of joyful tears. We can’t wait to see everyone back next year!
