CAMP QUALITY – Today was day two of Camp and it was an eventful one for sure. We started our day off like any other, with breakfast! After we were all stuffed with french toast, it was time to mark the moment in history with our official camp photos. From camper/companion photos to our big group shot – today was the big day for everyone to show off their best smiles.

Next up, wooden crafts provided by Home Depot. The hammers were loud, but the creations were amazing – wooden pencil cases, windmills and more. Thanks to the Home Depot team for a great morning!

Lunch was Mexican-style with enchiladas, rice and salad, delicious as always thanks to our awesome kitchen staff. This led to our cabin photos and a quick toes up to get some energy for an afternoon full of fun.

A surprise visitor came to check out how things were going here at Camp Duncan – their groundskeeper Bill. Our Director Ashleigh made sure to thank him and send him off with some CQ swag for all of his hard work making lots of upgrades to the property including new electrical and a bunch of new rooves. Camp Duncan is a great place to be!

We had a very interesting and informative visit from our friends at Let’s Talk Science who taught us how to identify leaves, which we then used to make some really cool crafts. We are excited for them to come back again tomorrow for more scientific fun!

And what’s an afternoon at CQ without a dip in Loon Lake with some tubing? The clouds kept making an appearance, but eventually, they left for good and we had some sun to warm up in. Right before dinner, we awarded the Cleanest Cabin award to Cabin 10 (Hunter, Parker, Ryder and their companions). I heard there was some favoritism because of their cuteness, but hey, a win is a win.

For dinner, we had a mouth-watering BBQ made by our friends at Daytona’s and the Kiwanis Club. Chicken, ribs, potatoes and coleslaw – what more could we ask for! Extra special thanks to them for making sure we were too full for dessert.

We ended off our evening with a trip to the tennis courts for some practice and some fun at the playground. Next was free time and of course… SNACK. Free time is always filled with basketball, badminton and other sports to burn off that last bit of energy before bed. But who can forget about the campfire filled with singing, dancing and laughing. After a fun-filled day, we are off to bed here at Loon Lake ready for another exciting day tomorrow. Day 3 we are coming for you!
